Income Tax:- Last Date of e-filing of Income Tax Return for Individual

Friends,

             It is known by everyone that extended Last Date for filing of Income Tax return electronically is 31-08-2012.  There are lot of assesses who have submitted their documents to their advocates or chartered accountants etc for submission of e-filing of Income Tax Return.  But they are not confirmed that whether their return has been submitted or not.   I mean to say individual can check Status of filing of Income Tax return himself.  Some steps for checking of status are given are as under :-

1. Login at https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
2. Press My Returns under My Account.
3. Select Assessment Year and Press Submit. 
4. In case link is available then return is submitted  otherwise return is not submitted till time. 

To open downloaded file (ITR-V) the following instructions are useful as already given at Income Tax Website.

The password is a combination of the pan(in lower case) and the date of birth in the format ddmmyyyy. For example, 1) if the pan is AAAAA0000A and the date of birth is 10-Jan-2008, then the password will be aaaaa0000a10012008 Please note that you will need Adobe Acrobat reader 8.0 or forward to open the password protected PDF file.
